Get To Know Me
My Journey

I’m DeAndre Smith, also known as Chef Cool Dre. I am based in Denver, CO but I find myself traveling globally to provide my clients the Chef Cool Dre experience. My passion for cooking began at 7 years old with my grandfather, Rueben Brown, being my biggest inspiration and teacher. I started cooking professionally after I graduated high school as it's always been a passion of mine. These past 9 years have been nothing but lessons and blessings for me. My journey started with me wanting to go to culinary school, but due to personal reasons I was unable to go. My experience began as a dishwasher, but I quickly worked my way up the ladder as I became the head catering chef at Regis University by the age of 20.

After I obtained my first degree I was fortunate enough to be 1 of 20 chefs selected to be on ABC’s ‘The Chew’. My opportunities began to compound on top of each other as soon as March 2019 came around. This is when I was 1 of 4 chefs in the nation to compete at Chicago O’Hare Airport in the HMS Culinary Event which is sponsored by the James Beard Foundation. My hard work and determination allowed me to win this competition.

The HMS Culinary Event was a major milestone in my career as I had more confidence than ever and decided it was time to expand my business in every way imaginable. While pursuing my second degree at the University of Northern Colorado, I started to establish my business by selling plates across both UNC and CSU campuses. My plates were a huge success and in addition to this success, I received the opportunity cook for TJ Ward. Ever since then, I have not stopped promoting myself and finding myself in incredible positions to do what I love the most. As I reflect on all the opportunities that have come my way, I am forever grateful that I never gave up on my journey, even if there were some rough patches. My experience as a chef has taught me that being comfortable in uncomfortable situations can bring out the best of people, especially me. I can't wait to hear from you and hopefully become your go-to private chef.
